Alley

"Alley" explores the subculture of the red-light district in 1980s Taipei, Taiwan, presenting a designated space that deliberately challenges conventional stereotypes of how such environments appear. Beyond the immediate discourse surrounding the sex industry, the bar culture depicted in this project encapsulates a deeper socio-political debate: the friction between safeguarding the labour rights of socially vulnerable groups and critiquing sexual exploitation.

To engage with these complex themes: feminism, sexuality, and sexual objectification, this project moves beyond historical documentation. Through a deliberate interplay of contrasting spaces, it employs immersive storytelling to examine how marginalised women navigate identity, survival, and autonomy under the gaze of a changing society.
